November 11, 2014

The start of the DII and DIII men's and women's NCAA tournaments is nearly here, which means this is the last edition of this year's TDS power rankings. After a week full of movement based on a variety of conference tournament results, things got wild in the final poll of the season.

Here's a look at this week's full complement of polls.

1 1 Young Harris College 17-0-1 A Peach Belt title was in the cards for the Mountain Lions, who topped USC Aiken 1-0 in OT to head into the tourney without a loss.
2 2 Charleston 18-0-1 The MEC regular season and tourney champs are riding high. A 1-0 win in the finale assured Charleston a high seed in the dance.
3 4 (+1) Southern New Hampshire 17-1-1 Since suffering their only loss on Oct. 25, the Penmen are 4-0, including an NE-10 title. The national title defense begins in earnest now.
4 5 (+1) Lynn 15-1-1 Seven straight wins is a heck of a way to polish the schedule. An SSC title fell with a 3-2 win over Florida Tech on Nov. 9.
5 6 (+1) Mercyhurst 18-2-0 Mercyhurst could've hardly done better than a 5-0 win over Bloomsburg in the PSAC finale. The Lakers are on a 14-game win streak.
6 7 (+1) Seattle Pacific 15-1-2 SPU finished with a draw with the GNAC title already secured. But after a 13-game win streak, the Falcons finished the regular season 1-1-1.
7 3 (-4) Quincy 18-1-2 One of three of the nation's remaining men's DII unbeatens, Quincy fell 3-1 to Indianapolis in the GLVC title game. Tough end to the regular season.
8 8 St. Edward's 16-2-1 St. Ed's secured an NCAA berth with a rousing 3-1 win over Newman to capture the Heartland tourney title. No losses since Sept. 13.
9 9 Cal Poly Pomona 17-1-2 Pomona locked in its first ever CCAA championship with a PK win over Stanislaus last week. One of the hottest teams in the country.
10 NR Northeastern State 16-3-1 A debut in the last poll of the season is a good way to finish. NE St. hasn't lost in a month, including an MIAA title won over Lindenwood.

1 1 Messiah 19-0-1 To the surprise of no one, Messiah cut through the Commonwealth tourney with 3-0 and 4-0 wins to dash into the NCAA tourney unbeaten.
2 2 SUNY Oneonta 18-0-2 Winning a conference tourney as the hunted deserves its plaudits. The Red Dragons topped SUNY Cortland 2-1 to finish strong.
3 4 (+1) Trinity (Texas) 21-1-0 Wins over Texas Lutheran (3-0) and Colorado College (2-1) gave Trinity 21 wins and the SCAC tournament title.
4 5 (+1) Kenyon 17-1-1 An overtime goal from Dalton Eudy gave Kenyon a 2-1 win over Ohio Wesleyan and the conference title. Good way to go out.
5 8 (+3) Whitworth 15-1-3 A 6-0-2 finish to the season, including a Northwest Conference title, pushed Whitworth up to No. 5 as the NCAA tournament approaches.
6 9 (+3) Muhlenberg 14-1-3 The Mules turned it on in the postseason. While F&M couldn't hang, Muhlenberg notched 1-0 wins over Dickinson and Haverford to win it.
7 NR Calvin 17-2-1 After losing the MIAA title in a shootout last year, Calvin downed Kalamazoo 8-7 to win it all this time around.
8 NR Christopher Newport 16-3-4 The Captains become the lowest seed in history to win the CAC title with a 3-1 win over PSU-Harrisburg. Three straight road wins.
9 NR St. Lawrence 16-2-1 The Saints are riding high after a 1-0 win over Rensselaer gave them the Liberty tourney title. No losses since Sept. 13.
10 NR Wheaton (Ill.) 18-3-0 There's no way to stamp your authority quite like winning the conference tourney with consecutive 4-0 and 5-2 victories.

Women's

Division II

1 1 Minnesota State-Mankato 21-0-0 Three consecutive 1-0 wins in the NSIC tournament led the Mavericks to a conference title. A No. 1 overall seed in the dance awaits.
2 3 (+1) Columbus State 19-0-1 Peach Belt regular season and tournament champs? In the most difficult DII women's soccer league in the country, mighty impressive.
3 5 (+2) Rollins 16-2-0 Rollins somehow managed to beat a solid Tampa side 6-0 in the SSC tourney championship game. Can't end any better than that.
4 6 (+2) Saint Rose 18-1-2 Saint Rose won its seventh NE-10 title in the last eight years with a 3-0 victory over Assumption in the conference tourney title game.
5 7 (+2) Cal State Los Angeles 16-1-3 CSULA won its second ever CCAA conference title last week and first since 2009. A 3-1 win over Chico State finished the deal.
6 8 (+2) Grand Valley State 18-2-1 The defending national champs couldn't be denied an eighth straight GLIAC tourney title. Is a surprise repeat on the cards?
7 9 (+2) Central Missouri 19-0-2 There aren't many unbeatens left anywhere in the country, so the Jennies' second tourney title in the last four years doesn't go unnoticed.
8 10 (+2) Wisconsin-Parkside 14-2-1 Parkside won its fifth GLVC tourney title by steamrolling Missouri S&T 4-1 in the finale.
9 NR East Stroudsburg University 20-1-0 ESU is on an unreal 20-game win streak after dropping the season opener. That includes a PSAC tourney title.
10 NR Colorado Mines 15-1-2 Mines might've been fighting wars of attrition throughout the conference tourney, but two 1-0 wins an a PK win after a scoreless game does the trick.

1 1 Trinity (Texas) 18-0-1 Scything through the conference tournament with combined 9-0 wins will inspire confidence for a true national title contender.
2 3 (+1) Lynchburg 22-0-0 One of the final perfect teams in college soccer snuck past Washington & Lee 1-0 in the tourney final to streak into the NCAAs.
3 5 (+2) Wheaton (Ill.) 18-1-2 A smashing 8-0 win and then a 1-0 victory four days later sewed up the conference tourney title for a Thunder team on a heater.
4 7 (+3) Montclair State 17-1-2 Winning penalty shootouts when it's tournament time is tough, so props to MSU for pulling out a squeaker to win the conference tourney.
5 8 (+3) Connecticut College 15-2-1 The best season in program history isn't over yet. A shootout victory over Williams in the conference tourney finals was the Camels' first ever title.
6 2 (-4) Messiah 19-0-2 The Falcons' schedule doesn't show a loss, but a defeat in PKs in the conference tourney title game isn't a great way to go into the NCAAs.
7 NR William Smith(w) 15-2-1 The defending national champions eased to a Liberty tourney title, making them 14-0-1 in their last 15.
8 NR Thomas More 20-1-0 Since losing on Sept. 27, Thomas More is 12-0, which includes a run to the PAC tournament championship.
9 NR Misericordia 17-2-1 A tough early-season schedule hardened this team for late season life, as proven by an easy jaunt to the Freedom tourney title.
10 NR Lake Forest 20-0-0 The schedule hasn't been the toughest at times, but major props to any team that manages to enter the NCAA tourney with a perfect mark.
