Five exciting days of action at National League P.R.O. in Oceanside, Calif., saw 30 boys teams and 30 girls teams qualify for the 2024 USYS National Championships, presented by New York Life. Ten teams also claimed National League P.R.O. titles as winners of the champions pool in their age group.
The games in Oceanside featured top teams in the 14U-19U age groups from the USYS National League’s club-based platform — Elite 64 — and team-based conferences, as each competing side earned its place in the event through its performance at playoff events earlier this season.
“The journey has been so long, and we kept showing up and kept trying and kept training, and it finally paid off,” said Addison Bailey of Cook Inlet SC 07G (AK) after the Alaska side earned a berth to Nationals. “Sometimes we feel like Alaska gets underestimated. It’s a really big deal for us, and we try to represent (the state). Without the National League and some of these opportunities, I really don’t think that we would be where we are.”
The action at National League P.R.O. was extremely competitive, as all games were decided by an average goal difference of just 1.91. The games to decide berths to the National Championships often came down to the wire, as those games featured an average goal differential of 1.54 and included 12 penalty kick shootouts.
The 60 teams that qualified for the National Championships came from 22 different state associations, led by Cal South and Utah with 10 qualifiers each. Florida had five teams qualify for Nationals, while New Jersey and North Texas each had four qualifiers.
In addition to teams earning their place in the National Championships, five boys teams and five girls teams won tournament competition within the champions pool of their respective age groups to claim National League P.R.O. titles.

It’s just a blessing to play in National League P.R.O. Especially winning it today — it’s a blessing.”
The 10 National League P.R.O. champions represented nine different state associations, as Illinois was the lone state to have two title winners.
