Despite the shutdown of soccer, official recruiting class announcements continued to be released over the past month.

That, plus the expansion of the 2020 IMG Academy player rankings, leads to a handful of changes in the April edition of the Women’s DI Recruiting Class Rankings. For this month, the rankings expanded to 40 programs in DI soccer.

1. UCLA

Commitments: F Reilyn Turner (So Cal Blues – No. 11), M Aislynn Crowder (Hawaii Rush – No. 23), M Michaela Rosenbaum (Santa Rosa United – No. 37), M Jillian Martinez (Lonestar SC – No. 40), M Dasia Torbert (Tophat SC – No. 50), M Isabel Loza (LAFC Slammers – No. 57), M Mackenzee Vance (United Soccer Alliance – No. 63), D Jordyn Gather (So Cal Blues – No. 107), M Jennifer Alvarado (So Cal Blues – No. 137), M Megan Edelman (Mustang SC – No. 172), GK Kelly McManus (Strikers FC), D My Haugland Sørsdahl (Kolbotn), M Kaila Novak (FC London)

Will this class close the gap with Stanford? The Bruins lose Jessie Fleming, but have another top recruiting class coming in, including Sørsdahl and Novak from abroad. The latter was just named to the Canadian U20 team for the Concacaf championship and enrolled in January. No matter what, it’s a hugely talented group.

2. Virginia

Commitments: D Samar Guidry (FC Dallas – No. 8), F Lia Godfrey (United Soccer Alliance – No. 10), D Elaine Rouse (NC Courage – No. 26), M Alexis Theoret (FC Virginia – No. 36), M Peyton Goldthwaite (NC Courage – No. 99), F Laughlin Ryan (Charlotte Soccer Academy – No. 116), F Sarah Brunner (United Soccer Alliance – No. 160), F Brianna Jablonowski (FC Fury NY – No. 170), D Maggie Fralin (Richmond United)

Transfers: D Sarah Clark (Purdue)

A strong class of U.S. youth internationals includes Guidry and Godfrey. With a quality senior class leaving Charlottesville, it’s a much-needed group of instant impact players. Sarah Clark’s addition as a transfer provides college-ready experience at the back.

3. North Carolina

Commitments: M Talia DellaPeruta (Tophat SC – No. 2), F Samantha Meza (Solar Soccer Club – No. 4), M Abby Allen (Lonestar SC – No. 9), D Paige Tolentino (NC Courage – No. 30), F Mollie Griswold (Arizona Arsenal – No. 53), M Avery Patterson (Florida Elite Soccer Academy – No. 115), M Kai Hayes (United Soccer Alliance – No. 183)

The talent infusion continues for the ACC program, as seven players from the IMG Academy Top 200 Club Soccer Players are off to Chapel Hill.
