It’s a family affair for the LA Galaxy Academy this season. Cameron Dunbar’s younger brother Nicholas Dunbar looks to be a stud for the club’s U17 team. Former head coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s son, Nicolas Schelotto, is leading the way for the club’s U15 team.

The talent was on full display on Saturday during the games against LA Surf at Silverlakes. It was the first game of the MLS Next campaign for LA Galaxy U17, which prevailed 3-2 in the game thanks to a tally from Walter Portales. Jonathan Santillan and Dunbar also scored for Galaxy.

Beyond the familial connections, LA Galaxy U17 also has Mexico Youth National Team member Alex Alcala, who made his debut with the club on Saturday. Alcala took up a spot in the midfield alongside U.S. Youth National Team member Nicolas Perez, formerly of Toluca, and Oliver Rhoades.

The big names on Galaxy will be tested this season, as the Southwest Division of the MLS Next league looks to be fiercely competitive. Beyond MLS Next, there were plenty of games over the weekend in boys club soccer. TopDrawerSoccer highlights the standouts below.
