Warmer climes continue season at U13

Texas and California were the winter warm spots for updates this month, with the California Regional League, Texas Pre-Academy League, and Florida Premier League having a light schedule of matches since our last update.

FC Golden State PDA 02 extends its first place record in the California Regional League to 6-1-1, and retains the No. 2 spot in our rankings. FCGS, secured two more wins in league play this month, and has just two to go before the season ends at the beginning of February.

Futsal season at U14

The Grande Sports Academy TeamRank Top 25 remains unchanged in this age group, as the U.S. Soccer Development Academy takes a break from the regular season this time of year to hold a series of futsal tournaments which do not impact our rankings. US Youth Soccer also takes a break from National League play over the extended holiday period.

National League continues at U15

The Disney Showcase was the second stop for teams in US Youth Soccer’s National League this month, and a couple of teams used the platform to make a statement in the Grande Sports Academy TeamRank Top 25.

United FA remains on top of the standings after sweeping its competition at Disney, and securing a resounding 6-1 victory over Ohio Premier Green in the final. The champion of the National League’s blue division is nowhere near decided, however, since five team still have a chance to finish on top after the final weekend in March.

South Carolina United FC continued its National League run, finishing the league with a 5-1-1 record good enough to top the red division, and climbs all the way to No. 6. No. 2 Real Colorado National, the only team to beat SCUFC during the National League season, is also the only team with a chance to rival them in the division when it completes its NL season in March. SCUFC was defeated in the Disney final by No. 3 Sporting KC Academy, who was not competing as part of its national league season.

Next Thursday: U13, U14, and U15 Girls

Grande Sports Academy TeamRank Top 25 is the comprehensive team-ranking system devised by TopDrawerSoccer.com to provide an objective and common-sense approach to determining which elite youth soccer teams are the best in the nation.

The rankings, updated monthly, are primarily results-based, with a nod toward the league and championship competitions that emulate how excellence is determined in leading soccer nations around the world.

Tournaments are also included but at a reduced value due to the many mitigating factors involving such events, including attrition and guest players.

A final layer of executive evaluation is provided to account for variables that often impact results, thus ensuring that the monthly lists are not subjective, but are not purely mechanical.
