Postseason spots earned at U13

No. 1 So Cal Blues – Baker and No. 5 Legends FC 01 met for the fourth time this season, this time in the semifinals of the Cal South National Cup, and Legends came out on top to lead the series at 2-1-1. The postseason was not to be for Matt Evans’ squad, however, as Legends fell to Eagles SC in the final. The Eagles advance to the US Youth Soccer Far West Regionals via a state championship and climb from No. 8 to No. 4 in our standings. Legends drop one spot to No. 5, and the Blues remain No. 1, despite the loss, after securing a Far West Regionals bid in February via the California Regional League.

CASL climbs at U14

CASL ECNL put another notch in the win column to begin the spring season, earning a 1-0 result against NC Fusion to extend its record to 8-1-1, good enough for the top spot in the Chesapeake Division and many points ahead of No. 13 FC Virginia, albeit with three games in hand. CASL jumps two spots to No. 21 and its success is due at least in part to the offensive efforts of U.S. U14 Girls National Team forward Haleigh Stackpole, who has 10 of her squad’s 20 goals this season.

After a tough start to the season with just one win in six matches through the end of October, St. Louis Scott Gallagher – MO is on a five game win streak and sits in a virtual tie for second place in the Midwest Conference standings with No. 24 Sporting Blue Valley. As a result, SLSG enters the Grande Sports Academy TeamRank Top 25 at No. 25.

Tournament play highlights U15

A couple of high profile spring tournaments allowed two non-ECNL teams to face off against contenders in US Club Soccer’s top league. Tophat 18 Gold and New England FC Elite both rose to the occasion, Tophat at the Las Vegas Players Showcase and NEFC at Jefferson Cup. Tophat climbs a spot to No. 5 after toppling No. 20 West Coast FC ECNL and MVLA ECNL in the knockout rounds, while NEFC took the Jefferson Cup crown over No. 14 Richmond United ECNL, a team with only one loss in conference play. NEFC climbs from No. 8 to No. 7.

For those continuing with the regular season in the last month, Crossfire Premier earned a tick up to No. 3 after amassing a 5-0-1 record against divisional competition. Crossfire’s record in March included five shutouts by goalkeeper Nerea Arrazola and eight goals by forward Venicia Juarez. Juarez is ranked No. 26 in the IMG Academy 150 for the Class of 2018.

Next week: U16, U17, U18 Boys update

Grande Sports Academy TeamRank Top 25 is the comprehensive team-ranking system devised by TopDrawerSoccer.com to provide an objective and common-sense approach to determining which elite youth soccer teams are the best in the nation.

The rankings, updated monthly, are primarily results-based, with a nod toward the league and championship competitions that emulate how excellence is determined in leading soccer nations around the world.

Tournaments are also included but at a reduced value due to the many mitigating factors involving such events, including attrition and guest players.

A final layer of executive evaluation is provided to account for variables that often impact results, thus ensuring that the monthly lists are not subjective, but are not purely mechanical.
