Pitt lands commit of Top 50 HS star

Kizza Edward, a standout forward at Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) and part of the SIMA program, verbally committed to Pittsburgh, his coach confirmed Friday.
The 2017 prospect scored 25 goals while leading Montverde Academy to a 20-0-1 record and a SIMA FAB 50 winter national title this school year. Edward, a native of Uganda, was named MVP of the Monteverde Academy soccer Tournament after scoring five goals at the event.
The No. 41 prospect in the Class of 2017 IMG 150, Edward starred at Carlisle School (Va.) before transferring to Montverde Academy, where he was a two-year starter.
He is the ninth commit to Pitt, under coach Jay Vidovich, for the Class of 2017, joining Colin Brezniak, Joshua Gaspari, Glenn Muenkat, Javi Perez, Marcony Pimentel, Chad Stout, Timmy Townsend and Andrew Walczyk.
