Revolution sign Angking as Homegrown player
The New England Revolution have signed 17-year-old midfielder Isaac Angking, the club announced on Tuesday.
A member of the Revolution Academy signed 2013-14, Angking totaled 81 appearances, 67 starts, 28 goals, and 18 assists with the Academy. That includes 12 goals from 11 appearances in the fall portion of the 2017-18 DA season for New England's U19s.
“We’ve closely monitored Isaac’s development during his four seasons in our Academy and look forward to seeing him continue to grow in the Revolution system,” Revolution General Manager Michael Burns said in a press release. “Isaac has distinguished himself with exceptional play and we believe he has the ability to become an impactful player for us at the professional level.”
Angking was a part of the U.S. U17 MNT player pool for the 2017 World Cup cycle, dating back to appearances with the Under-14s back in 2014. Part of the residency program, he also earned a call-up for the Nike Friendlies in December 2016. He is the No. 43 ranked recruit in the 2018 Boys IMG Academy Top 150.
"I'm excited to be joining the Revolution first team and can't wait to start working with the coaches and my teammates," Angking said in a release. "I'm looking forward to this next step in my journey and am thrilled to be taking that step with my hometown club."
