Best of the Best
Best of the Best. These teams are ones you remember for years to come. There might be a national champion that is not ranked 5-Star, but it is unlikely there will be a 5-Star team that never won a national championship. It is big news when these teams lose a match. These teams are full of heavily-recruited college prospects and conduct themselves in a manner worthy of our top designation.
Very Strong
These teams are regional national championship contenders with a heavy presence in the most elite leagues. Featuring a number of heavily-recruited players, 4-star teams show the potential to being among the best ever.
Strong
These are very steady and hard-to-beat teams with visible presences in the best leagues and/or at the State Cup level. They are also teams you do not want to see in your group at major tournaments as on a given day they are capable of beating anybody.
Good
These squads are usually a pretty strong presence in a local league and have done some damage in tournaments of a mid-level stature. Not a bad rating for a younger team, 2-star squads may be just missing that one string of results to put them in a higher category.
Fair
These teams are better than the average club travel team. While these teams
may struggle for results in some of the bigger tournaments and leagues, they
still include players who are serious about their soccer and are trying to
accomplish something in the game. Don't underestimate them.
Note: A team making this list means it is above the larger number of travel soccer teams in this country.
The rankings graduate with age. A younger team is much less likely to have a high ranking.
