Bakersfield Drops Season Opener To Denver

DENVER, Colo.--Bakersfield dropped the 2013 men's soccer season opener to Denver 4-0 Sunday night.
Blair Jeralds and Zach Bolden scored goals in a three-minute span in the first half as the Pioneers took a 2-0 lead into halftime. Cole Chapelski converted a penalty kick for Denver in the 51st minute. Jack Henderson completed the scoring in the 83rd minute for the Pioneers. Denver improves to 1-1 on the season.
"We started five players that didn't start last year and it will take some time," said Bakersfield head coach Simon Tobin. "We played poorly and Denver played well."
