Florida star signs in Scotland
Former Florida star Savannah Jordan has joined Scottish club Glasgow City FC, the club announced on Saturday.
Jordan, who was recently taken in the 2017 NWSL College Draft by the Portland Thorns, which will retain the rights of the U.S. youth national team standout. The four-time All-American selection by the NSCAA, she scored 81 goals and added 27 assists during her career at SEC powerhouse Florida.
"Savannah has been a stand out in America’s college football," head coach Scott Booth said in a press release. Her success has meant that numerous clubs at home and abroad have been knocking at her door. We are delighted she chose to join us at Glasgow City and it shows how highly rated this club is in the women's game. She is an attacking player with fantastic natural ability who is comfortable with both feet, strong and an eye for goal. I'm looking forward to working with her.”
Glasgow City has won a record 10 straight league titles, competing in the Scottish Women's Premier League. The 2017 season begins in March.
This marks ths second straight year that a Gator has signed with a club in Europe. Jordan's former teammate Claire Falknor joined Bayern Munich at this time last year.
