Michigan Announces Five-Person 2015 Class

University of Michigan women's soccer head coach Greg Ryan announced the program's five-person 2015 recruiting class on Tuesday, Feb. 10. The signees include forwards Reilly Martin (Carmel, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit Prep) and Kelly Sweeney (Bloomfield Hills, Mich./Marian), midfielders Abby Kastroll (Naples, Fla./Community School of Naples) and Jackie White (Livonia, Mich./Divine Child) and defender Sura Yekka (Mississauga, Ontario/Our Lady of Mount Carmel).

"The 2015 class is full of skillful attacking players who will have a positive and immediate impact on our 2015 season," said Ryan.

Abby Kastroll
Naples, Fla.
Midfielder

Kastroll, a midfielder from Naples, Florida, attends the Community School of Naples and plays club for the West Florida Flames. She is currently in the midst of her senior season and has already broken the school record for most career goals and assists with 114 and 77, respectively. Community School of Naples participated in the Florida State Semifinal match on Feb. 4. Previously, she has been named to the Florida Athletic Coaches Association All-State Team on three occasions (2012-14) and led CSN to three straight 1A District titles (2012-14). In addition to playing for the U.S. ODP Florida team, she was also a member of the U.S. ODP Region III team that traveled to England and also competed in the 2013 U.S. ODP Thanksgiving Interregional. Kastroll is also a two-time letterwinner in lacrosse, where she was a US Lacrosse All-America honorable mention selection in 2014.

"Abby is skillful, scrappy and tenacious. She has the versatility and competitiveness to impact our team in multiple positions. I anticipate that Abby will make a positive impact in her first year at Michigan."

Reilly Martin
Carmel, Ind.
Forward

Martin is a forward from Carmel, Indiana, and attends Brefeuf Jesuit Prep, where she led the Braves to three sectional championships (2011, 13, 14) and one regional title (2012). Martin was named a NSCAA All-American following her senior season (2014), in addition to earning first team All-State honors as a sophomore (2012) and senior (2014). Throughout her club career, she won three Illinois State club championships -- two with Carmel United Soccer Club (2011-12) and one with Indiana Premier Soccer Club (2013), and is now a member of Eclipse Select (2013-present). Martin has participated in several national team camps, including the U-20 U.S. Women's National Team Camp in October 2014. She also participated on numerous OPD teams, playing for the state and regional teams from 2010-12. In 2014, she was invited to the ECNL ID2 Nike Camp in Portland, Oregon.

Coach Ryan on Martin:
"Reilly is a true striker with tremendous attacking skills. She is an excellent finisher and creates great chances for her teammates. I anticipate Reilly having a key role in our 2015 attack."

Kelly Sweeney
Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
Forward

Sweeney is from forward from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, attends Marian High School and plays club for Vardar ECNL (2010-15), alongside fellow Michigan commit Jackie White. She will play her senior season at Marian this spring. As a junior in 2014, she tallied 22 goals and 11 assists, helping Marian make a run to the Michigan state championship game for the second straight season. Following the season, she was named to the Oakland County Dream Team and a candidate for Miss Gatorade. In her first varsity season in 2012, Sweeney helped lead Marian to the Michigan state title, netting two goals in the championship match. She earned first team All-State honors as both a freshman and sophomore (2012-13). Sweeney played with the Michigan ODP and ODP Region II teams (2010-11). In 2014, she was invited to the U-20 U.S. National Team Camp and ECNL ID2 Nike Camp in Portland, Oregon.

Coach Ryan on Sweeney:
"Kelly can play anywhere on the park due to her athletic ability, skill set and extremely high soccer IQ. I anticipate that Kelly will make a huge impact whether playing on our front line or in the midfield."

Jackie White
Livonia, Mich.
Midfielder

White is a midfielder from Livonia, Michigan, attends Divine Child High School and plays for Vadar ECNL (2012-15) alongside fellow Michigan commit Kelly Sweeney. White has led Diving Child to three straight district title games (2012-14) and will play her senior season at Divine Child this spring. As a junior, she represented Divine Child as a team captain and earned her second straight All-State and All-Region honors (2013-14). White was also a three-time All-District and All-Catholic selection (2012-14). She represented Michigan at the OPD National Championship in 2013. In addition to soccer, White also ran four years of cross country for Divine Child.

"Jackie is a consummate holding midfielder -- great skills, vision and composure. Jackie will join an amazing group of players in that position and shows the promise to help us right away."

Sura Yekka
Mississauga, Ontario
Defender

Yekka is a defender from Mississauga, Ontario, and attends Our Lady of Mount Carmel. She plays for Brams United SC club team and is also a member of the Canadian Women's National Team, making appearances with the U-17, U-20 and senior national teams throughout her young career. In 2013, Yekka was named the Canadian U-17 Player of the Year. She competed for Canada in the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Costa Rica and the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Canada. Yekka was just 16 years old when she made her debut with the Canadian Women's Senior National Team on Oct. 30, 2013, against South Korea in Edmonton, Alberta. She will represent Canada at the 2015 FIFA World Cup in Canada. In addition to soccer, Yekka also excelled in track and field, winning bronze in the 800-meter run at the 2010 U-16 Track and Field National Championships.

Coach Ryan on Yekka:
"Sura is an outstanding and versatile player. She currently plays as an attacking right defender for Canada's Senior National Team and will be representing Canada this summer in the 2015 World Cup."
