No. 20 Costal Tops UNC Asheville 3-0
ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The 20th-ranked Coastal Carolina men's soccer team scored three goals to defeat the UNC Asheville Bulldogs 3-0 Saturday afternoon in Asheville, N.C.
Head coach Shaun Docking recorded his 167th win as the head coach of Coastal Carolina, passing Paul Banta on the all-time wins list. In his 14th season as a head coach at Coastal, Docking holds a 167-86-24 (.646) record.
Ashton Bennett netted his 13th goal of the season 23 seconds into the match on a breakaway to give Coastal an early 1-0 lead.
Pedro Ribeiro added his fourth goal of the season on a free kick to give the Chants a 2-0 halftime advantage.
Entering the week as the NCAA's third leading goals scorer, Bennett added his second goal in the 87th minute as Henrik Robstad fed him a pass to score his second goal of the day to give Coastal a 3-0 victory.
Keeper Scott Angevine recorded his second consecutive clean sheet, and fourth on the season, to give him 15 career shutouts.
Coastal improves to 11-2-0, including a perfect 5-0-0 in the Big South while UNC Asheville falls to 3-7-3 and 2-2-1 in the Big South.
The 20th-ranked Chanticleers return to the pitch Tuesday, Oct. 18 in Spartanburg, S.C., where they will face the Wofford Terriers at 2:30 p.m.
