Saints Shutout at Hartford
Damion Lowe's goal in the 77th minute was all Hartford needed to pitch a 1-0 shutout over Siena Men's Soccer Friday night in Connecticut. Siena, which scored four goals in their season opener, was held to just two shots and none of which were on target.
Lowe headed in a shot in front of the net, following a scramble off a corner. David Bernhardsson picked up the assist for Hartford (2-0-1).
The Hawks out-shot the Saints (1-1) 14-2, but Siena did have some chances. The Saints attempted eight corners, all of which came in the opening half.
Freshman goalie Ryan Vyskocil made one save in his collegiate debut for the Saints, whileMike Matera and Matt Needham accounted for both of Siena's shots.
The Saints return to the Capital Region Sunday for their home opener against Buffalo at 1 p.m. The game will be streamed live online at SienaAllAccess.com.
