Wake F Stengel signs with Bayern Munich
Another top ACC women's talent is on the move to Germany.
Former Wake Forest forward Katie Stengel signed with Frauen-Bundelisga side Bayern Munich, the team announced on Friday.
Stengel, who will join up with the U.S. U23 Women's National Team for next week's camp in Chula Vista, California, scored 50 goals during an outstanding four-year career with the Demon Deacons. A three-time All-American from her freshman through junior seasons, her senior season was cut short when she was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis. The ailment ended her senior season after 12 games, where she scored six times and added eight assists.
The former Hermann Trophy semifinalist helped lead the U.S. U20 WNT to its 2012 U20 World Cup triumph in Japan, and has appeared in camp with the full team, along with the upcoming U23 camp. She posted this reaction on her Twitter account:
Ich freue mich, meine Profikarriere bei FC Bayern zu beginnen ...and I hope that makes sense in German lol

She'll reportedly join the team in July ahead of the 2014-15 Bundesliga season.
