Top programs and new commitments roll in
Today’s look at signing classes across the country takes us on a tour to all four corners of the U.S.
We start with the women:
Santa Clara
Very strong class for the Broncos this year who snag two of our Top 100 prospects. They’ve picked up Alesha Blair (De Anza Force), Sofia Huerta (FC Nova – Idaho), Kelly Jarvis (MVLA –NorCal), Alyssa Kleiner (Neusport), No. 12 Catherine Parchinski (Pride SC), Brooke Rice (Sparta United), Stephanie Sorg (MVLA-NorCal) and No. 66 Kathryn Speidel (Real So Cal).
In terms of sheer quality, there may not be a better class in the country than the Cavaliers’ who boast: No. 30 Lia Bellizzi (Albertson SC), No. 4 Olivia Brannon (Michigan Jaguars FC), No. 1 No. 1 Morgan Brian (Ponte Vedra), No. 16 Danielle Colaprico (PDA), Campbell Millar (Bethesda SC) and No. 58 Kaili Torres (Ponte Vedra). Look out.
Penn State
The Nittany Lions will try to extend their incredible run of consecutive Big Ten titles with new additions Kori Chapic (Cleveland Cobras), No. 10 Whitney Church (Loudoun FC), No. 75 Britt Eckerstrom (FC Frederick) and Kindrah Kohne (Empire Syracuse).
Nebraska
The Cornhuskers welcome Samantha Areman (Capital Soccer Association), Jourden Casey (Arsenal – NE), Mayme Conroy (Omaha Football Club), No. 49 Kelsey Goff (KCFC Alliance), Caroline Gray (KCFC), Sydney Pugh (KCFC Alliance) and Molly Rappold (KCFC Alliance).
New Commits
A couple of recent announcements include No. 49 Caroline Casey, of Virginia Rush, who is heading to William & Mary for 2011.
Nicole Fischer (Florida Rush) is heading to Florida State for 2012.
Lisha Murphy (Carmel United) is heading to Michigan for 2012.
Jenna Brennan, a 2011 from Boulder Force, has decided to change her commitment to attend California. Brennan was originally scheduled to go to Miami(w) but reevaluated after coaching personnel changes there.
MEN
Army
Second-year coach Russell Payne is putting his stamp on the program with an unprecedented class. Feast your eyes on Army’s diverse group of newcomers:
Mwila Mulenga (Zambian U20 National Team), Blaz Marolt (Slovenian U18 National Team), No. 77 Tommy Jaeger (Real Colorado), John Marinelli (Minnesota Thunder Academy), Skylar Porter (Real Colorado Academy), Justin Kim (LA Galaxy), Sean Michael Alvarez (Texas Rush), Elliott McGilbra (Texas Rush Academy), Vince Kennedy (FC Milwaukee), Devin Perlee (FC Copa Forza), Sean Mogan (Chicago Fire), Grant Taylor (FC Copa Forza), Kyle Golonski (Empire United), Griffin Barra (Arsenal FC Academy), David Rouleau (Virginia Rush) and Kevin Hayes (Massapequa Aces).
No. 16 Isaiah Trejo (Cal Odyssey) and Shaquille Hamilton (PDA) will join couple of new transfers to the Cardinals.
Oregon State
Looking to turn things around, the Beavers have pulled partly from the Development Academy and will welcome Matt Bersano (Real Salt Lake AZ), Andrew Glaeser (Crossfire Premier), Glenn Paden (Seattle Sounders), Mike Reckmeyer, Will Seymore (England), No. 84 Khiry Shelton (Lonestar SC).
Wisconsin
The Badgers got a great player in No. 11 David Caban (Chicago Fire) and also added AJ Cochran (St. Louis Scott Gallagher) and Eduardo Fernandez (Real Salt Lake AZ).
New Commits
Jonathan Campbell (Greensboro Youth SC) is heading to North Carolina for 2012.
