2011 Boys ODP Interregional | Day 4

FRISCO, Texas (Nov. 28, 2011) – The US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (US Youth Soccer ODP) Boys Thanksgiving Interregional concluded today with the 1997 and 1998 age groups competing at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif.

Continuing its tradition of elite play, competition and player development, youth from the nation's premier player identification and development program, US Youth Soccer ODP, trained and competed in front of U.S. National Team staff, professional and collegiate coaches to maximize their exposure for selection to the next level of play. More US Youth Soccer ODP players have been called into Youth National Team camps than any other ID program, including 129 of 148 players called into U-14, U-15, U-17 and U-18 camps since September 2011.
GAME SUMMARIES
1997
Region IV defeated Region III to notch their second 2-0 win of the weekend, with their only blemish coming yesterday in a 2-1 loss to Region I. Ether Bustos scored his third goal in as many games to open the scoring just after halftime. Alexis Berrios doubled the advantage five minutes later to lead Region IV to the victory as Region III finishes 1-2.
After opening with a 2-0 loss to Region IV, Region II ran off consecutive 2-0 games versus the U.S. National Team yesterday and Region I today. Vukashim Latinovich put Region II on the board in the 19th minute and Thomas Ueland secured the victory with a strike of his own just after halftime. Region I finished 1-2 on the weekend.
1998
Region II made sure they left California with a positive result by beating Region III 3-1. Daniel Wright put the Midwesterners ahead in the 15th minute and Jose Cholico doubled it 10 minutes later. Alexander Dexter scored his second goal of the weekend just before halftime to make it a one-goal game, but Spencer Glass netted in the 58th to secure the Region II victory. Both teams finished with 1-2 records.
Region I and Region IV played to a 1-1 stalemate on the final day. Zachary McMurrer put Region I in the lead just eight minutes into the match, but Terrell Lowe equalized just four minutes later as both defenses held on the rest of the game. Region I finishes 1-2-1 while Region IV went 0-1-2.
US Youth Soccer ODP is known as the premier identification and development program for the nation's youth seeking the opportunity to compete at the national and collegiate levels of play. US Youth Soccer ODP is the original Olympic Development Program and the only elite player development program that can claim members of Major League Soccer and Women's Professional Soccer as well as a majority of current and past national and youth team members, as alumni.
