Welcome again to Players to Watch. Today we look at some of the best 2013 girls from the South.

Antoinette Payne of Birmingham United is a smart, technical and dynamic attacking central midfielder. She’s smart, fast, and has tremendous energy. It’s no surprise that she is in the U15 National Team pool.

Katherine Crump is a technical goalkeeper who plays much bigger than her size. She makes clean saves on high and low balls alike, and communicates constantly. Her strength is still developing, but she’s got all the tools to dominate.

Malcaniesha Kelley is a tall, quick and technical striker. She’s smart, tenacious and two-sided, and an assassin-like goal-scorer. She leads her team by example.

Mary Morgan Prince is BUSA’s captain who organizes everything from the central midfield. She’s small but very strong, a complete player who controls the tempo of the game. She scores goals, distributes and defends with equal aplomb.

Forward Courtney Dike of Oklahoma FC is a top-notch athlete with great power and speed. She can attack a defense one-on-one, post up, and win balls in the air. She scores a ton of goals and plays her best at the most crucial moments in a game.

Nicole Voss is a left defender/winger with a fantastic work rate who gets up and down the wing and wears opponents out. She is mentally tough and never afraid of making a challenge.

Krissi Killion of Hurricane FC Rhein is a forward with excellent athleticism and work rate and a natural attacking mentality. She’s passionate and tenacious, and has already committed to Oklahoma State as a freshman.

Elizabeth Keester is a forward with outstanding technique and finishing ability. She excels with her back to goal, and though she could be more consistent, she’s always a threat to score.  

Darrien Chapman is a center back with great athleticism and physical attributes. She’s strong on the tackle and projects as a top-notch marking back in college, though she struggles at times with her decision making with the ball at her feet.

Kaela Little is an athletic goalkeeper with good size and soft hands who gets great distance on her punts and goal kicks. She communicates and distributes the ball well.
 
Shallow Price is an attacking central midfielder who breaks defenses down with her pace and dribbling ability. She doesn’t score much from long range, but is deadly anywhere inside the box.

Katie Sprouse is a physical central midfielder with great distribution qualities and the ability to score from distance. She’s good in the air, keeps possession, and is strong on the tackle. Her lack of elite speed will make her a holding midfielder – but a very good one – at the Division I college level.

Tayler Estrada of NWA lightning is an attacking midfielder with great speed, strength, footwork and penetration skills. Her vision allows her to create lanes for others and score goals herself.  She made all-state in Missouri as a high school freshman, and has a bright future ahead of her.  

Alexandra Dougherty is a winger/striker with great technique and speed. She can score from distance and attack one-on-one. She could be more patient in her distribution, but has very few weaknesses as an attacker.

Meagan Johnson is an outside back with great strength and speed. She has defensive instincts, is able to serve long balls accurately and overlaps fluidly on the attack.

Marion Crowder of Chicago Fire Juniors of Mississippi is a very technical, quick Region III forward with good finishing skills. She scores goals and will be a top Division I college recruit.  

Hailey Brohaugh is a Region III center back/holding mid with the ability to strike balls accurately over distance. She’s an excellent one-on-one defender with good anticipation. She lacks top-end speed, but is a natural leader and also scores goals from distance.

Ross Black is a right back with tremendous athletic features. Her technique and passing skills need some work, but it’s rare to see her beaten on the defensive end. She has good individual defensive skills and is a raw athlete with all the tools to succeed.

Ariel Kupritz of Brentwood is an insanely fast attacker with great work rate to consistently get in behind defenses and serve dangerous balls into the box. She’s a member of the U15 National Team pool.  

Malinda Allen is a center back/midfielder with great size and strength in the air. She’s a good leader and is very composed on the ball. She’s on the Region III ODP team and is receiving interest from Florida, Tennessee, and other schools in the SEC.
