2022 Boys IMG Academy Top 150 analysis
The penultimate edition from the latest round of Top 150 updates jumps into the Boys Class of 2022. For players born in 2004 (or later) its far too early to take too much away.
But there are still talking points from the latest round, especially as this is the class that will form the backbone of the U.S. Under-17 MNT for the 2021 World Cup cycle.
Cowell’s pro progression
The first player in the rankings to turn pro, Cade Cowell jump into the top spot as his impressive trajectory continues. Already 5-foot-9 at just 15, the speedy winger is a goal-scoring threat at the academy level that will look to improve and develop in the coming weeks and months.
He looked in impressive form during the recent Generation adidas Cup West Regionals, and as a 2003, would be too old for the U17s in two years; he can play his way into the conversation for the Under-17s this year whether it’s at the club level or on loan at Reno 1868.
