2022 Girls IMG Academy Top 150 Analysis
The final winter update to the IMG Academy Top 150 player rankings came out last week. It took at look at the 2022 girls class of 2022, the youngest group covered. Below are a few talking points from the refresh.
Two Bay Area clubs well-represented
Within the girls club soccer circuit, two 2004 squads stand out as two of the best in the country: MVLA U15 and San Jose Earthquakes U15.
Both teams are dominant offensive sides in the ECNL and Development Academy respectively. The two are obviously Bay Area-based, with MVLA coached by Erin and Albertin Montoya, and Andres Deza guiding the Earthquakes. It’s no surprise to see both teams well-represented in the 2022 IMG Academy Top 150 rankings, with four from San Jose Earthquakes (including America Frias, Elise Evans and Kathryn Kelly) and six from MVLA (including Allison Montoya, Charis Toney and Leah O'Brien).
