The latest 2023 Men’s Division I Recruiting Class Rankings update is out today, examining the top incoming classes for this year.
Late commitments, pro signings, transfers and international additions remain in play for the new season. Players continue to weigh up their opportunities as the 2023 campaign draws closer month by month.
Check out the Top 35 rankings for May. Three more updates will be released between now and August, when the final edition drops before the start of the new season.
Please send any commitments or corrections to [email protected].
1. Saint Louis (1)
Commitments: D Carlos Leatherman (Minnesota United FC – No. 63), F Marcos Moore (Rise SC – No. 75), D Cole Dougherty (Solar SC – No. 80), M Jack Sullivan (Colorado Rapids – No. 123), F Tanner Anderson (St. Louis Scott Gallagher – No. 181), M Axel Torres (Rise SC)
Transfers: D Galen Flynn (Fordham), F Matt Wrobel (St. Bonaventure), D Lawson Redmon (Indiana), M Diego Konincks (Campbell)
It’s an extremely strong class up and down the field for SLU. Moore was the United Soccer Coaches club player of the year, and is arguably the top striker in the class.
2. Georgetown* (3)
Commitments: M Mateo Ponce Ocampo (FC Westchester – No. 55), D Oliver Stafford (NYCFC – No. 81), M Eric Howard (Crossfire Premier – No. 122), M Matthew Van Horn (Shattuck St. Mary’s – No. 153), M John Heaps (Alabama FC), M Matthew Helfrich (Bethesda SC)
Six players were confirmed via a Twitter announcement. Georgetown only loses one starter from this fall’s squad, setting them up for a strong platform for 2023.
3. Portland (4)
Commitments: F Diego Rosales (Houston Dynamo – No. 52), D Angel Martinez (Pac Northwest SC – No. 71), F Nicholas Dunbar (LA Galaxy – No. 86), M William Cornog (Solar SC), GK Drew Hartman (D.C. United), F Joe Highfield (Minnesota Thunder Academy), M Morgan Olson (Minnesota United FC)
Transfers: F Micaah Garnette (St. John’s), F Tim Ennin (Northeastern), M Wylie Trujillo (Gonzaga), M Jesus Salazar (Mount St. Mary’s), M Boyd Curry (St. Mary’s (CA)), F Samory Powder (Detroit Mercy)
A blend of top incoming talent and transfer additions should add to Portland’s high level. It was a great season for the Pilots in 2022 that saw them go on a lengthy tournament run.
