Academy Select Rosters Named
Four Development Academy Select rosters – two at the U-15/16 age group (1998-99) and two at the U-17/18 level (1996-97) have been named to compete against each other on Thursday, Dec. 12, at the 2013 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
The Academy Red and Blue Select teams for the U-15/16s kick off at 6 p.m. ET and the U-17/18 match begins at 8 p.m. ET at the Premier Sports Campus. Game updates will be provided on the Academy/YNT Twitter account @ussoccer_ynt.
The elite Academy players for all four rosters were selected by U.S. Soccer technical advisors, who will also be coaching the teams.
Among some of the noteworthy accomplishments, the U-17/18 Red Select Team features San Jose Earthquakes Academy goalkeeper James Marcinkowski, who helped the U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team take second place at the Limoges Tournament in France in October. That Red Select squad also features Bethesda-Olney’s Jeremy Ebobisse, who is currently tied for second in goal scoring with 10 tallies in the U-17/18 age group.
A good portion of the Academy Select Blue U-17/18 team had been called up to U-18 MNT head coach Javier Perez’s 36-player camp in September: Real So Cal goalkeeper Justin Vom Steeg, Colorado Rapids defender Quentin Pearson, San Diego Surf defender Pablo Pelaez, FC Dallas forward Coy Craft, Crew Soccer Academy midfielder Benjamin Swanson and Houston Dynamo midfielder Christian Lucatero.
Roster additions or changes are possible heading into the Dec. 12 Academy Select games.
