Commitment: Messiah

With Division I and II soccer programs on his radar, Jonathan Groothoff ultimately decided to make a verbal commitment to a DIII powerhouse.

“From a soccer standpoint, I believe Messiah is the best program in Division 3 to play soccer at, if not the best in the NCAA,” he told TopDrawerSoccer. “Messiah’s men’s program has won 10 NCAA titles since 2000, and was ranked the No. 2 college for soccer by College Magazine and No. 3 by US News. Messiah holds the distinction of being the only program to have both the men’s and women’s programs win a NCAA title in the same year, which has been accomplished four times in 2005, 2008, 2009 and 2012. Messiah’s team is comprised of players who have turned down D1 offers to play because they believe in the uniqueness of the program.”
