Boys Commitments: Staying Home
Tristan Jacob, Midfielder, Crew Soccer Academy Wolves
Class: 2014
Commitment: Michigan
A two-way midfielder who likes to buzz around the field, Tristan Jacob is a life-long Ann Arbor, Michigan native who will get the chance to suit up for his local team.
First-year head coach Chaka Daly currently leads the program, which made the College Cup in 2010. His presence helped sway the opinion of Jacob.
“I immediately felt very welcomed and cared for and I knew I wanted Michigan to be my new home,” he told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “I have always wanted to be at a university where I can strive to be my best on and off the field, and Michigan has given me this opportunity. I am very honored to get the chance to play for such a well-respected University.”
Of course, being a local, this opportunity is also a dream come to for the young midfielder.
“As a young boy living in Ann Arbor, Michigan all my life, I have always envisioned getting to play for Michigan one day and now being able to call it home is something very special to my family and I,” he said.
Daly’s entire coaching staff appealed to Jacob as well, so this decision was much more than about the lure of staying close to home.
“What I really liked about the Michigan soccer program was that the new members of the coaching staff made me feel very comfortable and they are pushing to not only to do well on the soccer field but also on the academic side of things,” he said.s
Dylan Rowe, Midfielder, Dallas Texans-San Antonio
Class: 2013
Commitment: Furman
A left-sided player – either in the midfielder or as a wing-back – Dylan Rowe likes to get forward and contribute to the attack.
He’ll get the chance to do that next fall when he heads to Furman, where he recently committed to continue his playing career.
“I chose to commit to Furman because it is both a great academic and athletic school for soccer and being at Furman I have a chance at getting a great degree and playing at the highest level for college soccer,” he told TopDrawerSoccer.com.
Coming from San Antonio, Rowe really liked the difference in landscape that Greenville offers, although things won’t be too different.
“The thing I love most about the school was the area around it, the college was absolutely beautiful and it was so green and lively,” he told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “That's something I don't get to see too much being in South Texas, but I also love how similar the weather is to Texas. It makes me feel right at home when I'm on campus and in the area.”
