Here are some of the recaps from Sunday’s matches:

Cincinnati United thrash Vestavia Hill

After failing to clinch the U18 National League title on Saturday, Cincinnati United thrashed Vestavia Hill Steamers 96 Black, 5-0, on Sunday afternoon.

“It was good for us to come out and take care of business,” Cincinnati head coach Bobby Puppione told TopDrawerSoccer.com after clinching the title. “We had a chance to clinch the title the day before, but today was well deserved. I know we have some dangerous players, so we found the opportunities to be excellent in the final third.”

Forward Jack Clark opened up the scoring in the 23rd minute, when a crossed-ball found the youngster as he slotted the ball into the net. Two more goals followed in the first half, midfielder Josh Mcdaniel’s strike from outside the box curled into the top right corner, as Henry Myers made it 3-0 before the halftime whistle.

“We played an excellent first half, and the second half is where we just sealed the deal,” added Puppione. “I’m proud of the boys and the effort, never lost focus of the ball and the game, and that just set us up for success.”

Jack Clark bagged his brace in the 69th minute before Brady Daulton’s strike in the 86th minute made it 5-0, as United lifted the U18 National League title.

Lehigh Valley edges PDA Mcgeugh

Jack Natale’s first-half strike lifted Lehigh Valley U18 to a 1-0 victory over PDA Mcgeugh on Sunday morning.

“I like the early start we had, it just showed how important it is to get an early lead and hold on to it,” Mike Gorni, head coach of Lehigh Valley, told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “We had a good rhythm in the second-half, but I thought we squandered our possession in the last ten minutes, but overall I’m glad we were able to hold on to the result.”

Natale’s goal before the 10 minute mark came, after Leigh lead a variety of counter attacks, which eventually resulted into the first and only goal of the match.

PDA did, however, play some strong offensive soccer, which looked to squander the opposing side's lead, but strong defense from the players paid dividends as Lehigh Valley held on to the result.

Tennessee holds Cincinnati to scoreless draw

Tennessee SC hoped to have clinched a spot in the championship match, but after waves of attacks, they were held down to a scoreless draw against Cincinnati Cup Gold U17 on Sunday morning.

“The boys played a great game, we played awesome football, but it was unfortunate that we weren’t able to finish our runs in the final third,” said Bryan Johnson, head coach of Tennessee SC. “Overall, we must continue to be more aggressive and tough on the ball.”

Cincinnati forward Luke Treadway lead the Cups’ various counter attacks, however, they weren’t able to capitalize on them for most of the game. While defender Will Cohen played superb, playing mostly as the man clearing the ball from the box and providing the midfield with some inspiration.
