The nearly 300 participating players were selected from US Youth Soccer State Association and Regional level evaluations. Throughout the week, players will attend training sessions and compete in matches against other Regions, in front of U.S. Soccer national staff and collegiate coaches to maximize their exposure for selection to the next level of play.

US Youth Soccer ODP is the only elite player development program that can claim members of Major League Soccer, the National Women’s Soccer League, and the majority of current and past national and youth national team members, as alumni. 2000 Girls: Region II v. Region IV
The 2000 age group kicked off this week’s tournament beginning with a matchup between Region II and Region IV. Region II got the first win of the day, defeating Region IV 2-1 with goals in each half. Region II’s Katherine Soderstrom got an early lead in the 9^th minute and Region II’s defense kept a shutout for the remainder of the first half. Coriane Dyke tied the match for Region IV in the 50^th minute, but Natalie Viggiano regained the lead just seven minutes later and secured the Region II win.

 

2000 Girls: Region I v. Region III
In the second 2000 Girls match, Region I and Region III played a competitive 80 minutes, but by the time the final whistle blew the game resulted in a scoreless draw: 0-0. Both teams saw a few chances but strong defenses on both sides prevented either team from finding the back of the net. Both teams will compete next in day 2 of the tournament as Region I faces Region IV, and Region III faces Region II.

1999 Girls: Region I v. Region III

The 1999 Region I team defeated Region III 1-0. The game winner was scored by forward Marykate McGuire in the 23^rdminute and Region I’s backline held strong for the remainder of the match to get the shutout.

 

1999 Girls: Region II v. Region IV
The 1999 Girls matchup between Region II and Region IV saw lots of action with 5-3 result in favor of Region II. The teams entered halftime tied 1-1 after a Region IV goal by Samantha Trinceri in the 31^st minute, and an equalizer by Region II’s Sofia Rossi a minute later. Ele Avery gave Region IV the lead upon starting the second half, scoring back-to-back goals in the 42^nd and 59^th minutes. Riley Tanner responded by leveling the match for Region II with two goals of her own in the 66^thand 70^th minutes. Emina Ekic became the deciding factor in the game, scoring twice in the final ten minutes for the ultimate Region II win.

1998 Girls: Region II v. Region IV

In the 1998 age group, Region IV got a 2-0 victory versus Region II with two first half goals and a stellar second half performance. Samantha Bruder opened the scoring for Region IV in the 19^th minute, and Arlie Jones added a second in the 35^th minute. Region II tried hard to break through Region IV’s defense, but Region IV stayed strong keeping the shutout and getting the win.

 

1998 Girls: Region I v. Region III
Region I defeated Region III in the second 98 Girls match of the day. Jenny Bike put Region I in the lead entering halftime with a goal in the 12^th minute, and forward Myra Konte also added to the score with a pair of goals in the 54^th and 62^ndminutes.

 

1997 Girls: Region II v. Region IV
Region II’s 97 Girls team beat Region IV 2-1 as a result of Michaela Kovacs’ late game heroics. Although both teams created a couple opportunities in the first half both entered halftime scoreless. Reece Hummel put Region IV in the lead in the 58^th minute, and the goal held on until Caroline Dreher tied the match for Region II in the 85^th minute. With seconds left until the final whistle Michaela Kovacs broke the tie and accomplished the win for Region II finding the back of the net in the 90^th minute.

1997 Girls: Region I v. Region III
In the final match of the day, Region I defeated Region III with a late goal by Italia Biondi. Both teams fought hard to get the much desired goal, but it was forward Biondi who got the game winner for Region I with just three minutes left on the clock.
