Here are some of the recaps from Tuesday’s matches:

Sweet revenge for VSA Heat 96

Midfielder Kristin Schnurr and Olivia Korhonen were the girls behind the goals, as VSA Heat 96 girls claimed a 2-0 victory over NSA Premier Jaguars.

“It’s a good start to the tournament. When we scored that second goal, I knew the game was put to bed,” VSA Heat Blue head coach Steve Smith told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “The early start showed we came ready to play. We played these guys last year and lost so to win this match definitely feels good.”

Schnurr gave the Heat an early lead after a through ball provided from Ashley Skertic gave the midfielder the opportunity to take on the goalkeeper and slot the ball into the net in the seventh minute.

After a battle of possession for much of the second half, VSA Heat secured the victory in the 89th minute after Olivia Korhonen rocketed a shot outside the 18 yard box, as the ball curled into the top left corner.

Futura take early victory over Norcross Fury

Reighan Childers goal in the 22nd minute was all Futura FC 96/97 needed to secure a 1-0 victory over Norcross Fury Premier.

“The girls played well, and did enough to get the job done,” Futura FC assistant coach Coleman Childers told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “We’re short handed, so we brought girls up and hopefully they mesh and create chemistry.”

Childers presence in the midfield soon evolved into a heavy presence in upfront as as she was able to cut through the defense, leaving the goalkeeper behind her for the early goal.

Norcross, however, had many pportunities throughout the game, but much of that was stopped thanks to Futura goalkeeper Kaylin Williams-Mosier who was able to finish the match was at least 7 saves, 4 of which came in the final 20 minutes.

Prince William Courage second-half rally leads to victory

After being down 1-0 to start the match, Prince William Courage ’95 Gold rallied back in the second half to win 3-2 vs. Michigan Gators FC.

Jordan Kestel’s stoppage-time goal off a set piece stapled the win for the team traveling from Virginia.

“We are very happy for the second-half performance, we just came into the second part of the match ready to fight,” Courage head coach Vicky Hall told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “This is a really good start to move forward, it makes life a bit easier to win the first game.”

Raechel Eck gave the Gators the early lead in 19th minute after she tucked in a ball from a corner kick for the 1-0 lead.

The second half, however, displayed a more alive Courage side. Jewel Christian found the equalizer in the 55th minute, while midfielder Jennifer Knoebel gave Prince Williams their first lead of the night. Gator forward Sarah Troccoli tied the match in the 85th minute after she slotted in a pass from Raechel Eck, but Jordan Kestel delivered after she headed in a ball from a set piece in the dying minutes of the game.
