It was the Faith George and Maribel Flores show as Slammers FC HB Koge defeated the Michigan Hawks in the U19 ECNL National championship game in a 2-0 scoreline. Flores, a Mexican youth international, assisted both of George’s goals in an identical manner, beating a defender in a wide area before sliding in a cross that George finished. If the game was a sign of what will come at the collegiate level, the USC Coaching staff is surely overjoyed as both are committed to the school, with Flores in the fall and George in 2024.

The Hawks, who did well to make it to the final after qualifying as a replacement on short notice, relied on Olivia Thomas offensively. The North Carolina signee did well to create opportunities on a few impressive solo runs but was ultimately unable to secure a goal. 

With this championship, many of the Slammers FC girls secure their second national championship, as the 05 core won the U16 National Championship in 2021, led by Flores, who won National Player of The Year.  

For the seniors on both teams, a national championship game is a great way to end their club career, and for the juniors, they get another crack at it next season.
