ECNL Rewind U16: Real Co looks for Real
The story of the U16 is group belongs to Real Colorado. The club’s National Team looks like the squad in the 2005 age group through the first few months of the season. The club’s Athletico is also in the playoff mix. Can anyone slow down Real Colorado in 2021 or will April Kater’s side be destined for a trophy in June?
Mid-Atlantic Conference
Richmond United (7-0) leads the way in the Mid-Atlantic Conference U16/2005 age group. Sarah Rosenbaum has been the top scorer for Richmond with already 14 goals this season. Sarah Flammia, Skyler Miller, and Olivia Woodson have also been key contributors in the attack for Richmond this season.
NC Courage (11-1-1) and Charlotte SA (8-4-2) are also in the hunt in this conference.
Midwest Conference
Minnesota Thunder started the season on the right foot with a 3-0 win over Gretna Elite Academy. Thunder will be back in action in January as the leading squad looks to keep hold of that perfect start to the campaign.
SLSG Navy (7-0-1), KC Athletics (6-1), and Michigan Hawks (6-1-1) are also in the hunt in the Midwest Conference. SLSG Navy is scheduled to face off against Minnesota Thunder in February. Langley Mayers, Autumn Jackson, Alyssa Bockius, and Zoe Cuneio have been among the standouts for SLSG Navy this season.
New England Conference
World Class FC is off to a 2-0 start to kick off the campaign. World Class picked up victories over East Meadow SC and SUSA FC. No other teams in the conference have played any games yet this season.
North Atlantic Conference
The North Atlantic has not recorded any games yet for the season. PDA Blue is the perennial favorite in the this age group. PDA is likely to kick off the season in March.
Northwest Conference
Real Colorado National looks like the top team in this age group through the first part of the season. Real Colorado has been tested quite a bit already at this stage of the season. Real went 6-0 during the two National Events. Reagan Kotschau leads the team in scoring with nine goals and three assists. Thai Quallich is the assist-leader with eight assists in 11 games. Sidney Armstrong, Addison Doyle, Hadley Linder, Michaela McGowan, Morgan Juran, Addison Vali, Charlotte Strabel, Samantha Luft, Fiona Jenkins, Mackenzie Megill, Clara Geuzaine, and Caley Swierenga have all contributed in the attack this season for Real Colorado National. Juran, Jenkins, Strabel, and Swierenga have also been standouts defensively. Shay Kercher-Pratt and Adelyn Todd are the stars in goal for Real Colorado.
Real Colorado Athletico have also been very good this season. Athletico’s only conference losses this season have been against National. They currently sit in a playoff spot heading into the second half of the season.
Crossfire United has also had a great start to the season with a 4-0 record through the first few weekends.
Ohio Valley Conference
Ohio Premier (1-0), Ohio Elite Soccer Academy (4-0-1), and FC Alliance (2-0-1) are all undefeated in conference play to start the season. There is still al long way to go in this conference with the teams scheduled to get back in action in March.
Southeast Conference
Florida Elite SA (7-0) and GSA (10-0-1) are both unbeaten to kick off the campaign. Florida Elite went 3-0 during the National Event in South Carolina in December. Midfielder Avery Robinson was one of the standouts during the event. Olivia Bori has been the team’s leading scorer during conference games.
Southwest Conference
Surf SC went 2-0 during the first weekend of the season in November, but the team was 0-3 during the National Event in Phoenix. Surf has too much talent on the roster not to be among the favorites in this age group, as they look to improve on a slow start to the campaign. LAFC Slammers is 1-0 in conference play, and went 2-1 during the national event. LAFC’s lone loss was against Real Colorado National. Phoenix Rising is also in the hunt in this conference.
Texas Conference
FC Dallas (9-0-4), Solar SC (9-2-2), Sting Austin (7-2-1), Classics Elite (7-1-3), and DKSC (7-1-5) are the top teams in this age group in Texas. FC Dallas leads the way with an unbeaten mark. Jaden Thomas leads the way for FC Dallas. Melania Fullerton, Emma Alvord, Madison Woodward, Madison Stormberg, and Taylor Cheatham have been standouts in the attack as well.
