Because of scheduling, and the need to cope with high school soccer, it can be difficult to gauge who is leading the pack within each ECNL Conference.

But in the Northeast Conference, the eight teams involved at the U17 level are all within a game or two of each other, making the picture a bit clearer at this juncture of the season.

New Jersey club PDA managed to keep ahold of its lead at the top of the conference over Scorpions SC after another round of ECNL action. After only being able to manage a 1-1 draw against SoccerPlus Connecticut, PDA responded with a big 5-0 win over Connecticut FC.

For the Scorpions, it was a furious battle against Albertson Fury to open the weekend, with the Scorpions eventually emerging as 5-3 winners. Scorpions’ McKenzie Meehan was the star of the day with four goals, as her club jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead only to have to hold off an Albertson rally in the second half.

“I thought it was a pretty good weekend overall,” Scorpions U17 head coach Keith Caldwell told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “We had an outstanding first half against a very good, very talented Albertson team.”

Meehan, a 2012 graduate committed to Boston College, then made it a weekend to remember, as she brought her tally across the two games to six, scoring both goals as Scorpions beat East Meadow 2-0 on Sunday.

It continues an impressive run of form for the talented attacker.

“She’s established herself as someone who really is knocking on the door of getting a national team call up,” Caldwell said. “She’s got 16 goals in 10 ECNL games and I think 29 goals in 16 games overall.”

 

U15

World Class FC picked up two big wins by a wide margin, dropping Connecticut FC 3-1 and SoccerPlus Connecticut 5-1. Kelsey Davis scored a goal in each game to help lead the way, while Julianna Cabrera, Caitlin Leen and Nicole Rzekiec also chipped in on the scoreboard.

While this weekend was a low scoring couple of days for Real So Cal, they still managed to grab four of a possible six points. After drawing 0-0 against Crossfire Premier, a Taylor Ayers goal against Slammers FC gave So Cal a 1-0 win.

PDA continued its romp through the season, boosting its record to 5-0-0 on the year, defeating SoccerPlus Connecticut 4-1 and Connecticut FC 5-1…Deirdre Bradley scored the lone goal of the game as Penn Fusion defeated FC Bucks 1-0 in the only game of the weekend for both teams.

 

U16

Ohio Elite beat Freestate SA 2-0, led by a goal and an assist from Maddie Huster, with Kelly Williams adding the other goal. In Ohio’s other game of the weekend, FC Delco’s Taylor Jamison and Williams each got on the score sheet in a 1-1 draw. Delco won its other game of the weekend 3-2 against Ohio Premier Eagles, as Kayla Smith scored a brace in the win.

So Cal Blues won comfortably against Irvine Strikers 4-0, with goal and an assist for both Indigo Gibson and Nicole Faris. In the Blues’ second game of the weekend, Rachel Witz scored but Alexandra Marquez answered for Eagles Soccer Club as the two sides drew 1-1. 

It was a strong weekend for Slammers FC, which picked up six points. First, MacKenzie Cerda, Chole Watson and Jessica Wong each scored in a 3-0 defeat of Real So Cal, then on Sunday, Kayla Mills and Nikki Walts provided the offense in a 2-0 defeat of West Coast FC.

 

U17

Brooke Boothe and Kelly Latimer scored for the So Cal Blues in a 2-1 win over Irvine Strikers. The day before, Ana Cruz and Kelly Fitzgerald bagged a goal each in So Cal’s 2-0 defeat of Eagles Soccer Club.

Up in the Northeast, World Class FC started off its weekend with a 1-0 loss to Connecticut FC, but rebounded on Sunday with a 4-0 defeat of SoccerPlus Connecticut. Leading the way in the win was Jennifer Andresen and her two goals, while Jennifer Peters and Delany Williams also got on the board.

 

U18

One of the games of the weekend took place between Albertson and FC Stars of Massachusetts. The two sides traded goals all afternoon, culminating with Alberston equalizing 5-5 with around 30 seconds left in the game.

FC Stars took the ensuing kick off and U.S. U17 captain Morgan Andrews found a winner with a stunning goal from distance for a 6-5 win.

“It was a surreal game, I’ve never been involved [in one like that],” FC Stars head coach Jason Dewhurst told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “Every goal was a good goal, the goal to win it was a strike from 25 yards top corner. It was a good game, two teams that are very much alike.”

That wild result, combined with a 4-0 win over East Meadow made it a very good weekend for FC Stars overall.

“It was important that we got back on track after San Diego,” Dewhurst said. “We played very well in San Diego but couldn’t put games to bed.”

Slammers FC managed a four-point haul from the weekend’s proceedings. After a 1-1 draw against Real So Cal, Slammers bested West Coast FC 3-0, thanks to goals from Natalie Donaldson, Makenzy Doniak and Clarissa Robles.

The San Diego Surf took no prisoners against Irvine Strikers, winning 9-0, as Mackenzie Akins scored five of San Diego’s goals on the day.
