Five big US questions at the U20 World Cup
The U.S. U20 MNT adventure in South Korea is just about here.
On May 20, the U20 World Cup kicks off with a match between Venezuela and Germany in Daejeon, one of the six host sites for this month’s tournament. Two days later, the Americans begin their journey in Incheon against Ecuador towing a bit of history. For the first time in U20 history, the U.S. enters this tourney as CONCACAF champions.

With following matches against Saudi Arabia and Senegal, the U.S. has a crack at reaching the quarterfinals in back-to-back years for the first time ever. If they can win two knockout matches, it’ll be a first in U.S. U20 history and put them on the doorstep to the unthinkable. Can they threaten the more established world powers with a run to a finale?
We’ve got questions upon questions swirling above the collective head of this U20 side before it kicks off play on May 22. Here are the five biggest I’ll be monitoring as the tourney progresses.
