COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – The first weekend of regional qualifying for the 2020 Generation Adidas Cup wrapped up Monday with 25 MLS academies competing in four regionals across the U.S.
Group A matches took place at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, home of the Colorado Rapids. The six clubs competing in Group A included the Rapids, LAFC, Vancouver Whitecaps FC, FC Dallas, Houston Dynamo and Portland Timbers.

Following this weekend’s matches, the Colorado Rapids and Vancouver Whitecaps lead Group A and are in the driver’s seat to advance to play in Division 1 of the 2020 Generation adidas Cup Finals at the Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco, Texas. The next round of regional qualifiers will take place on President’s Day weekend of next year.
