Jasmine Wright, Defender, Maryland United FC
IMG Academy 150: #92
Class: 2015
Commitment: Virginia(w)

A defender with good pace and a sound technical game, it didn’t take long for Virginia(w) to become the top choice for Jasmine Wright.

“I have loved the school ever since I first stepped foot on campus,” she told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “I love the atmosphere at the school and in the town of Charlottesville, and I feel very much at home there. I know that the academics at school are top notch and I will get a great education, no matter which major I choose.”

Much can be made of the team’s success in 2013 – they are currently 14-0-0 – but it’s the way the team plays on the field, and not just the victories, that also appealed to Wright.

“I was drawn to the style of the team's play,” she said. “I admire how quickly they change the point of attack and how they possess the ball so skillfully. The coaching staff is another major reason why choosing Virginia was such an easy decision.”

Head coach Steve Swanson has proved himself at both the collegiate and international level (winning the U20 World Cup with the USWNT last year), yet another factor that influenced Wright.

“When I attended camps, it became clear to me that all the coaches are great teachers who are fully committed to helping all players reach their full potential,” she said. “I sensed that the coaches really care about the players and the players love the coaching staff, which should make playing for them a lot of fun.”

Wright joins Betsey Brandon (Colorado Rush), Brianna Westrup (Slammers FC), Montana Sutton (PDA) and Morgan Beans (Gwinnett Soccer Association) for Virginia(w)’s 2015 recruit class.

Jayne Maccio, Midfielder, Connecticut FC

Class: 2015
Commitment: Colgate

As she went through her recruiting search, Jayne Maccio began to get an idea of what she’d like to find in the right school. After a small school environment with outstanding academics and athletics, Colgate soon checked every box on her list.

“Having the chance to visit Colgate over the summer, I knew this school would be one of my top choices because of the beautiful campus and the professionalism of the coaching staff,” Maccio told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “At a second visit to watch the Raiders play in September, I was very impressed with the style and speed of play. Although I found many great soccer programs out there, I knew stepping off the campus in late September that Colgate University was the one for me.”
