Sophie Milich, Goalkeeper, Albion Hurricanes
Class: 2015
Commitment: Auburn

A 6-foot goalkeeper who likes to make her presence in goal known, Sophie Milich takes pride in directing and organizing her team from the back.

A long college search process eventually led her to a final decision at an SEC school.

“I visited several schools and they were all great, but Auburn just feels like home to me,” Milich told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “It's a big school but the campus is cozy and compact. Auburn has amazing traditions and school spirit and I really love the college town atmosphere.”

Academically, Auburn offered Milich plenty of options in science and economics, two fields she’s considering pursuing.

The promise of the soccer team was another draw, as she felt comfortable with the team and coaching staff during her search.

“I really appreciate the fact that Coach Hoppa began talking to me early in my recruiting process, but was patient while I visited other schools and made my decision,” she said. “I was attracted to Auburn's top-notch facilities and history of winning. I can't wait to compete in the SEC and be an Auburn Tiger.”

Milich is the fifth reported verbal commitment to Auburn for 2015.

Emele Chaddock, Forward, Crossfire Premier
Class: 2016
Commitment: Washington State

An impact player on her ECNL side, 2013 saw Emele Chaddock sidelined by the dreaded ACL tear.

She’s since recovered and resumed scoring goals in both high school and ECNL, and for awhile, looked bound for a Patriot League program – until a school closer to home reached out to her.

“I called coach [Jon] Harvey who graciously agreed to a last minute Easter weekend visit,” Chaddock told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “So we drive five hours over the Cascade Mountains and through endless miles of rolling hills and plateaus into Pullman, Washington, home of the WSU Cougars.”

Impressed with a newly renovated soccer stadiums and new dorms splayed across campus, Chaddock soon realized that this was the place for her to make her commitment.

“With all the new and renovated facilities and support staffs for student athletes I realized WSU is unequalled in the PAC-12,” she said. “Most of all both coach [Steve] Nugent and coach Harvey helped me feel confident that WSU is where my collegiate education and soccer should be.”

Chaddock is Washington State’s second verbal commitment for 2016.

Ashton Blanksma, Goalkeeper, Washington Premier
Class: 2015
Commitment: Portland State

Ashton Blanksma’s decision to stay in the Pacific Northwest was based in finding a school with the right blend of school and soccer.

“I decided to commit to Portland State because I felt it was a great fit for me in both athletics and academics,” she told TopDrawerSoccer.com.

The team’s success in the Big Sky conference was a definite plus as well.

“I like that Portland State has had a winning record and that the team is connected,” Blanksma said. “I feel like the coaches support their players and really take the players best interest into consideration.”
