Girls Commitments: Two for Tennessee
Nicole Seaman, Midfielder, SC Del Sol
Class: 2015
Commitment: Tennessee
An extremely competitive and dangerous attacking player, Nicole Seaman found everything that she was looking for at Tennessee, a rising SEC force.
“I decided to commit to Tennessee because I felt it was the right place for me to grow not only as a soccer player but as a person,” she told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “It is a beautiful location in Knoxville and I love the atmosphere of the school. It has a phenomenal athletic reputation and is a great place to further my education.”
Head coach Brian Pensky, who took over the program last year, appears to have the program heading in the right direction, which certainly caught Seaman’s attention.
“Coach Pensky and his staff are awesome. They have a history of developing players and successful programs,” she said. “Their style of play fits my strengths well, and the facilities are top notch. They are going to take the program at Tennessee to the next level and I am very excited to be a part of it.”
Off the field, she also felt like she can get the support she needs in order to get a great education.
“I was really impressed with the academic programs in my areas of interest and the student-athlete support staff,” she said. “It will be a great place for me to earn my degree and pursue post-graduate studies.”
Danielle Marcano, Forward, Atlanta Fire SA
IMG Academy 150: #38
Class: 2015
Commitment: Tennessee
Joining Seaman in the class of 2015 will be Danielle, Marcano, a forward from the Atlanta region.
“I was impressed with the level and quality of academic support as well as the campus, the amazing athletic facilities, the coaching staff, style of play and welcoming atmosphere,” she told TopDrawerSoccer.com about the program.
The school’s history also appealed to her, along with some of the facilities she’ll have at her disposal in Knoxville down the road.
“The university traditions run deep and the commitment to campus improvements is incredible,” she said. “Several new facilities include the academic support building, music center, residence halls and a new student center. There is also a new second weight room and a full size indoor field. The fitness, flexibility and weight training programs are being designed for each athlete's specific needs.”
Maxine Blackwood, Forward, Matchfit Academy
Class: 2015
Commitment: NC State
There were plenty of things that drew Maxine Blackwood, from New Jersey, to make her commitment to the Wolfpack for 2015.
“I decided to commit to NC State for a few reasons,” she told TopDrawerSoccer.com. “It’s on the east coast, it’s in the ACC, which is a conference that has the best competition in the nation. Another reason is that the school has so many majors to choose from and that is really important to me since I do not know what I will major in yet. The overall feel of great soccer, the ACC, great coaches, all under a great atmosphere of friendly, caring people is the experience I want at a University. And that's what NC State has to offer.”
