A stalwart defender for a successful Ohio Elite U16 squad, Maddie Huster is in the process of making visits as she plans for where to take her game to next.

Schools from the ACC, Big Ten, Big East, and Big 12 have shown interest, and she’s leaving no stone unturned as she chats with coaches, academic advisors and other players.

With that in mind, she’s got a picture of what she wants in a program.

“I am primarily looking for a school that offers challenging academics and a soccer program where I can continue to develop and contribute. And of course, I am interested in winning a national championship,” Huster wrote TopDrawerSoccer.com in an email.

There’s no limit to her search, as she’s simply looking for that good fit, and willing to check out schools coast to coast.

“There is not necessarily a part of the country that I am more interested in than another,” she said. “I am looking for a school that fits my interests and goals as a student athlete.”

And of course, she’s in no rush to jump to a decision.

“When I feel confident that I’ve found the best fit for me, I will make my decision,” she said.

Jordan Fleming, Defender, Heat FC

Top 150 Rank: 64

Class: 2014

Some players fear the recruiting process, but for Jordan Fleming, she is cherishing the opportunity.

“The recruiting process for me has been very exciting,” Fleming said. “Playing in the ECNL against the best teams and players in the nation and knowing that at any given game there could be 20 to 30 college coaches watching gives me goose bumps and motivates me to play my best soccer. It's a great feeling knowing that all my hard work and dedication is starting to be noticed by some of the top soccer programs in the nation.”

The Las Vegas native said she has been on unofficial visits to “schools in the Pac-12 and have received interest from schools in the Big-12, Big East, Big West, ACC, Ivy League and Conference USA.”

Fleming has yet to narrow down her list, but did add some details about her dream school.

“My dream school will have the academic major I want to study, a solid soccer program that is supported by the faculty and students and of course a coaching staff who can guide me to become the best player I can be,” Fleming said. “I'm also going to look for a mentoring atmosphere from the upperclassmen so that I can learn from them and represent the program to the best of my ability.”

Kassidy Gorman, Midfielder, So Cal Blues

Class: 2014

The college search has been a learning process for Kassidy Gorman, the talented midfielder from the top team in our latest TeamRank update.

“Overall, the recruiting process has been a rather new process for me and I find it quite interesting,” Gorman said. “I have learned things about how it works as time progresses and what aspects I must remember when looking at various colleges.”

Gorman said that schools in the Big 10 and the West Coast Conference have expressed interest in her.

“Although I have already looked into certain colleges, I like to remember to keep my options open,” Gorman said. “Viewing colleges across the country helps me define what things are important to me and also what type of college experience I am hoping for in the future!”

The outside midfielder currently is tied for top honors in assists on her ECNL team, and said she wants to bring that unselfish play to the collegiate level too.

“The most important factors in my search for a college is the type of college it is,” Gorman said. “Getting a feeling for what the program is like within each school is something I like to keep in mind. Location is definitely a good quality, but I find that strong academics, a competitive environment, and being able to bond with the team are some of the more important aspects.”
