Heat FC 01 RM is having a good run this spring, resulting in a debut at No. 22 in the Grande Sports Academy TeamRank Top 25. The Las Vegas-based team coached by Richard Moles just finished up an undefeated run in the Far West Regional League’s Desert Premier Division to be one of the first to secure a spot in the US Youth Soccer Far West Regionals this summer. But they haven’t stopped there. Heat also leads its US Club Soccer league, the Mountain Developmental League, and hopes to advance to the NPL playoffs as well. Sprinkle in a few recent tournament championships, and we end up with a team worthy of its ranking.
Already in the top 25, but inching up a few spots this month are Dallas Kicks and United FA 01 Elite. Kicks continue to lead the Lake Highlands Girls Classic League and climb two spots to No. 14, while Atlanta based United FA 01 Elite has yet to give up a goal in state league play and will be a tough team to beat in GA State Cup play at the end of next month. UFA climbs from No. 17 to No. 15.
U14: Queen City club returns to top 5
Charlotte SA ECNL returns to No. 5 this month after a few months at the No. 7 spot. Charlotte’s two wins over Concorde Fire and Birmingham United at the end of March gave them a 16-1 record good enough to take over first place in the Southeast Conference from No. 13 Concorde. Coach Nathan Williams’ squad has amassed more goals (79) than any other team in the U14 age group and is second only to the GSA U17s in the entire ECNL. With eight matches remaining in the regular season schedule, Charlotte could pass GSA’s 95 goal mark before the post-season begins.
With the losses suffered by No. 3 De Anza Force at the San Diego showcase, PDA ECNL is the only team in the league to remain undefeated and becomes the new No. 1. PDA, the 2013 ECNL runner up to De Anza, has a perfect 9-0 record so far, but there is a lot of soccer left to play for Thomas Anderson’s team at just the midpoint of their season, so it’s a precarious perch. U.S. U15 GNT goalkeeper Evangeline Soucie will have to keep her clean sheet record going (she has only given up goals in two of nine matches) to keep PDA on top.
Next week: U16, U17, and U18 Boys
Grande Sports Academy TeamRank Top 25 is the comprehensive team-ranking system devised by TopDrawerSoccer.com to provide an objective and common-sense approach to determining which elite youth soccer teams are the best in the nation.
The rankings, updated monthly, are primarily results-based, with a nod toward the league and championship competitions that emulate how excellence is determined in leading soccer nations around the world.
Tournaments are also included but at a reduced value due to the many mitigating factors involving such events, including attrition and guest players.
A final layer of executive evaluation is provided to account for variables that often impact results, thus ensuring that the monthly lists are not subjective, but are not purely mechanical.
