Isaias Juarez listed high in rankings
The Players To Watch list among the U16 players within the Rocky Mountain and Southwest regions had many changes.
You can see all the Players To Watch Regional Top 20 rankings here.
For the boys, Victor Rios jumped up five spots to the head of class while Isaias Juarez and Emmanuel Martinez sit right behind him.
Juarez, who originally played for Strikers FC, recently was accepted to the Real Salt Lake Academy and has been playing with the U16 RSL Academy team since August.
The five-foot-seven defender originally played as an attacker for Strikers FC but was shifted to the backline when joining RSL.
“He has great tactical awareness and knows his starting position with the three defenders. He has a good understanding of the game and where he needs to be,” Muñoz said. “I wouldn’t say he’s the most vocal guy on the field, but he has the tool to make it to the next level, it’s just refining certain things.”
In other age groups, Dustin Berg, Owen Steinwall, and Tommy Jaeger top the 2011 Boys.
Riggs Lennon is #1 among the 2012s and Cole Nagu jumped up four spots to #2.
Jason Eng and Edgar Duran top the 2014 Boys, and Joshua Doughty and Christian Herrera do the same for the 2015 rankings.
On the girls’ side, North Carolina bound and member of the U.S. U17 WNT Lindsey Horan ranks at the top of the 2012 Girls list followed by McKenzie Karas.
Cate Parchinski, Kelsey Loupee, and Indiana Mead rank at the top of 2011 Girls rankings.
Among the 2013 Girls ranking, Gabrielle Miranda is #1 followed by Lauren Kaskie and Carissa Miller.
Betsy Brandon ranked first among the 2014 Girls, as does Amy Alexander in the 2015 rankings.
