Find out who some of the big winners were:
U14 Championship division
Arlington Attack Royals 2, Charlotte United 1
With a spot in the final on the line, Arlington Attack's Felipe Caceros scored in the second half to punch a ticket to the finals thanks to a 2-1 win over Charlotte United.
The first 15 minutes were fast paced, as both teams had a lot of energy to start the game. United got themselves out in front early in the first half thanks to a Melvin Covert header. It wouldn't take longer for Arlington to equalize thanks to a bomb from outside the box by midfielder Nick Jackson. The goal ignited the fire in Arlington, and they kicked their play into a higher gear as the game wore on.
Early in the second half, Arlington jumped out to a lead they wouldn't relinquish, as Caceros was able to slip behind the defense and slide to get a foot on a cross that found the back of the net. After the goal Arlington began to sit in and adopt a more defensive approach for the remainder of the game, as Charlotte sent everything they had, but it wasn't enough.
Carolina Elite SA Premier 1, Arlington Attack Royals 0
With only two hours between games, Arlington had little time to recover in preparation for the U14 Championship group final. Despite the lack of rest, the Royals threw everything they could at Carolina Elite, only for a late second half goal from Dean Sinatra sealing the group honors for the side from NC.
Both teams started the game off slow as there was a lot of sloppy play in the midfield. Carolina enjoyed perhaps the slight edge in play, finding their feet after the choppy start to the final. The fine play was almost rewarded by an opening goal late in the first half, only for the Arlington 'keeper to save a shot off his line.
Arlington took over the game in the second half, looking much more threatening, bombarding the Carolina net, yet failing to find the back of the net. A clearly frustrated Arlington attack saw their plofligacy punished with only minutes left in the game, when Carolina got their chance. Drake Bird found himself with tons of room on the left side of midfield and was able to cross a ball in behind the defense to Sinatra who found the back of the net for the first time this tournament.
U15 Championship division
Bethesda SC Lions 2, Brandon FC Boys Elite 0
Sepehr Hoghooghi delivered a perfect start to the game for Bethesda SC, as his free kick tally two minutes in the game set the pace for a Bethesda side which cruised to a 2-0 win on the day.
The goal set the tone for the day, as they attacked relentlessly, applying pressure on Brandon FC's back line. That paid off 15 minutes after the opening, as Joel Tshiani double the lead, which was more than enough on the day.
While the offense provided the opening spark, the Bethesda defense was able to cause fits for Brandon FC forward Chase Hovious. Limiting him to touches far from goal, it was a frustrating day for all of the Brandon FC forwards as the Lions eased to victory, looking menacing on both sides of the ball.
