The U.S. Soccer Federation is holding a joint camp this week in California for the U16 and U17 teams.
With the 2023 Under-17 World Cup cycle set for next year, it’s another opportunity for head coach Gonzalo Segares to evaluate talent. The bulk of the U17 roster traveling to California are players born in 2006, and eligible for next year’s tournament.
Under-15 BNT head coach Tom Heinemann will run the U16 roster through its paces as well, and for the bulk of that team – born in 2007 – it’s a chance to potentially play up and earn a spot on the qualifying team.
From the U17 perspective, several of the 2006s that have been regulars in camps and trips aren’t involved; this U17 squad is a chance to perhaps earn a look with the main group.
Here’s a look at some of the top talents to watch as the camp gets rolling.
