No. 1 ranked player gets Gatorade POY
May 25, 2011
The No. 1 girls’ player in the country, by unanimous decision, is Morgan Brian.
She even has the hardware to prove it.
Brian received the Gatorade National Girls Soccer Player of the Year Award on Wednesday morning, an honor that came with a surprise presentation from former U.S. Women’s National Team player Cat Whitehill.
Our No. 1 ranked player on the 2011 Top 100 List, Brian is a national team player and sensational midfielder for Ponte Vedra SC in Florida.
Her high school exploits unfold in Georgia, which explains why she was previously named the Gatorade Georgia Girls Soccer Player of the Year, but her skills transcend state borders.
With today’s news, Brian becomes the first national soccer winner from the state of Georgia.
Brian was selected from a pool of the 50 state winners and the District of Columbia. She is now up for the Gatorade Female Athlete of the Year Award, which will recognize the ultimate winner among all sports.
Brian is set to take her talents to Virginia this coming fall.
