Rating the YNT: Top 5 boys midfielders
After taking in the defenders and goalkeepers in our tour of the best of the best in the U.S. boys YNT pipeline, today we move toward the engine room.
The midfielders.
The U.S. has an increasingly diverse array of midfielders in its pantheon, which isn’t merely limited to staunch holding midfielders and blazing fast but technically inferior wide players. There’s just about everything now, and the top of the charts reflects that diversity. It’s a new day indeed.
As ever, these players represent players uncapped on the senior team (sorry, but no Emerson Hyndman or Christian Pulisic) and of current YNT age. I grade on future prospects as much as where they are now, so keep in mind we’re taking the long view today. So without further ado, the top five in the pipeline.
