Jessica Musmanno is undergoing a little transition in order to prepare for next year’s big one.
Ranked No. 2 in our 2011 Top 20 New Jersey Region, Musmanno will be switching coasts next season when she goes off to college and joins the USC program.
In the meantime, her PDA club team is adjusting to the loss of four players – who went on to college – and trying to make due with new ones.
“When we practice it’s a smaller group, and we play games with 11 players plus guest players from younger PDA teams,” Musmanno said. “It’s kind of a weird season – sometimes it’s hard to get into the rhythm of the game. But I’m pushing myself now because I don’t want my preseason at USC to be a shock.”
A gifted striker who has tremendous speed, Musmanno is currently topped only by No. 1 2011 New Jersey player Danielle Colaprico. Other top-ranked girls in the region include: Gabby Galanti, Brittain Dearden and Monica Flores.
On the boys’ side: Sean Davis (2011), Brandon Allen (2012), Adam Najem (2013), Santiago Castano (2014) and Malcolm Dixon (2015) are the current leaders in their age group.
