SoCal TeamRank, Northeast Players To Watch

SoCal TeamRank, Northeast Players To Watch
March 1, 2011

The 411: TopDrawerSoccer.com’s TeamRank and Players To Watch rankings utilize a 16-region setup.  Every Tuesday through Friday we will run an article highlighting a monthly update of one of these regions for each feature. On Mondays we will highlight national rankings updates for both Players To Watch Top 100 and the TeamRank Top 10.

The TeamRank National Championship is a unique rankings setup that only includes team performance from the current season. It begins with events in August and ends with final events in July, at which point a new competition begins and the slate is again wiped clean. Each ranking is only for that August to July season.

Please read the TeamRank criteria and points setup here.

The girls Northeast Players To Watch ranking update shows a trio of 5-star 2013 players in Morgan Andrews, Lauren Berman and Hayley Dowd. More than one coach suggests the terrific three are all top 10 players nationally (the inaugural Girls Top 100 for 2013 comes out this month. so we’ll see).

Recent New England Revolution professional signing Diego Fagundez, a player we spotted three years ago tearing it up at the U14 National ID Camp in Concord, MA, highlights our rankings on the boys’ side.

In the Southern California TeamRank update, the fall Coast Soccer League standings (counted as a regional-level league in our system because it deserves to be), continues to have a major influence on the standings. Championships or high placement in the CSL have helped boys teams such as Albion SC (U16) and South Bay SC (U13) and girls teams like Arsenal FC (U13, U14 and U16), Real So Cal (U15) and SoCal Blues (U18).

With the spring tournament season (and our continuing to add results from fall and winter events as part of our commitment), it will be interesting to see how the standings in each age group develop.

Southern California TeamRank Boys standings can be seen here.

Southern California TeamRank Girls standings can be seen here.
