TDS Combines: Philadelphia Best XI Girls
TDS’ debut Combine kicked off in Philadelphia last weekend, and featured over 175 players and 15 college coaches in attendance. InfoSport and TopDrawerSoccer developed the Combine with the goal of getting more youth players in front of college coaches and scouts.
The best girls XI from the combine include representation from many of the region’s top players and clubs.
Hannah Ciolek – Penn Fusion – GK – Our #5 2014 GK in the United States put on a clinic this past weekend. Mechanically Ciolek looked very strong and made some phenomenal saves. She communicated effectively and was very decisive in when to come off her line.
Samantha Ascencio – Parsippany Soccer Club – Defender – A tenacious defender who won nearly every 50/50 challenge she was involved in. Capable of probably playing anywhere along the backline, as well as through the midfield, Ascencio never got beat and played the ball effectively out of the back.
Aubrey Martin – Branchburg Soccer Club – Defender – A physically imposing Center Back, Martin impressed coaches with her agility, size, and willingness to go into tackles. She projects very favorably at Center Back at the next level.
Taylor Simmons – HMMS Eagle FC – Defender – Simmons has an excellent future ahead of her if she keeps developing. She is a great dribbler who has the foot skills and technique necessary to excel at the next level.
Haley Burkholder – Lower Dauphin County United – Defender – A strong defender, Burkholder is a player that sees the entire field very well. She’s confident while on the ball, and has a good first touch. There is a classic defender’s mentality that is associated with her game.
Maureen Hossler – Central Delaware Soccer Association – Midfielder – Hossler is a very effective and productive central midfielder. The better she played, the better her team as a whole performed. She was always looking for the ball and executed some great passes in the buildup during the full field games.
Nicole Gomez – Parsippany Soccer Academy – Midfielder – Gomez had a great Combine and looked composed on the ball. She’s got a great first touch and a good soccer brain.
Hannah Watts – FC Delco – Midfielder – Hannah is an excellent finisher and offers good pace while she’s dribbling at defenders. She’s a very confident and effective outside midfielder.
Allegra Ondrejka – South Jersey Elite Barons – Forward – One of the first things that stood out in Allegra’s overall game was her understanding of the game itself. She’s a quick player with good ball skills, and thinks quickly in tight spaces and under pressure. She has a high work rate and is a very physical player.
Meghan McCool – Penn Fusion – Forward – A forward that dribbles with purpose and great speed, McCool is very attack minded. She’s an excellent crosser, and utilizes her speed to get in behind defenders and whip crosses into the box.
Riley Curtin – PA Classics – Forward – Curtin has an excellent shot and is very vocal on the field. She dribbles with good awareness and speed, and does not shy away from tackles and physical presence. It’s always great to see a forward defend and pressure the ball when their team is defending.
