Thirty-nine players called up to U18 WNT
The U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team will come together for a 39-player identification camp from Oct. 1-8 at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
U-20 WNT head coach Mark Carr will lead the camp and has called up 39 players, all born in 2002. Three players on the roster were a part of the U.S. team that played at the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay in forwards Talia DellaPeruta and Trinity Rodman as well as defender Smith Hunter. Forward Samantha Kroeger represented the USA at the 2018 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Championship.
The age cutoff for participating in the 2020 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup is players born on or after January 1, 2000, so this group of 2002s are looking to work their way into the consideration for U-20 Concacaf qualifying next year. However, this age group is primarily focusing on the run to the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Thirty-one of 39 players have spent at least one season in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. Seven players were named to Academy Best XI teams at the end of the 2019-20 season: Mia Justus, Olivia Migli, Amber Nguyen and Paige Tolentino in the East Conference, Emily Matthews in the Central and Hunter in the West.
