All 23 players were born in 2006, which is the age cut-off for this year’s U-16 WYNT. This player pool is also age-eligible for the U-17 WYNT, which will kick off World Cup qualifying later this month at the 2022 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Championship.
The 23 players come from 16 different youth clubs, led by four from the San Diego Surf and three from New Jersey’s Players Development Academy. Eleven states are represented on the roster, with the most players, five, coming from California. IMG Academy defender Carla Small is a rare, but becoming more common, USYNT call-up from the state of Hawaii.
