U17 WNT Begins Second Training Camp of 2013
U.S. Under-17 Women’s National Team head coach B.J. Snow will hold his second event of the year, calling in 26 players for a training camp at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., from March 2-9.
Players born on or after Jan. 1, 1997, are age-eligible for the next FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup to be held in Costa Rica, and the majority of the players called up for this camp were born in 1997. Snow did name three players born in 1998; forward Mia Gyau (daughter of former Men’s National Team player Philip Gyau and little sister of current FC St. Pauli and former U.S. U-23 midfielder Joe Gyau), and goalkeepers Brooke Heinsohn from New England FC and Katherine Hess from the SoCal Blues.
The young U.S. team played its first two international matches during its first training camp at the end of January, earning two draws against their Germany counterparts.
