U17 WNT convenes in Carson

{mosimage:250}CARSON, Calif. - A few new faces are on hand at Home Depot Center as Kaz Tambi has convened the latest U17 Women’s National Team camp here.
Not that it’s all change mind you. Of the 24 players in the camp, 18 were at a similar gathering in Florida last month, but newcomers to this week’s gathering include Californians Kylie McCarthy and Alexandra Courtnall, Hawaii’s Caprice Dydasco, Florida sisters Shelby and Sydney Payne and Cleveland-area forward Ashley Meier.
“At this point our top priority is to evaluate as many prospective players as possible and see how they fare,” Tambi said of the changes to the roster. “Our last camp was great in that regard because we were lucky enough to have three scrimmages against a German side that is already a year into their cycle. For most of our players it was their first international competition and a real eye-opener to them.
“There will be some kids the same and some new kids at every camp,” he continued. “We want to keep an open door for the new kids we’ve heard about, and with some of others, let them gain extra experience as we move ahead.”
This week’s camp will include intensive training and some scrimmages against area boys' and women’s teams at Home Depot Center.
