The Philadelphia Union won the 2024 Generation adidas Cup on Sunday at IMG Academy in Bradenton, beating the LA Galaxy 5-4 in a penalty shootout.
A 2-2 battle through 80 minutes of soccer (regulation was 70 minutes with 10 minutes of extratime) yielded no winner, sending the game to spot kicks to decide the tournament crown.

Neil Pierre converted the sixth Union attempt, and an LA Galaxy miss cued the celebration.
Diego Rocio's goal in the 32nd minute opened the scoring, handing the Union a first half lead.
Goals were clawed back, and the Galaxy took the lead, scoring two goals within four minutes in the second half. Dylan Vanney's low shot went through Gavin Atkinson's hands and into the back of thet net. Adam Dunar bagged the second, slotting home from a rebound off a Mathis Albert shot.
Cavan Sullivan scored a tap-in of his own, tying the game after a Jamir Johnson run and cross.
Neither side could score again, sending the game to penalties, as the Union won the competition for the second year in a row.

Inter Miami, Chicago Fire win Premier Brackets
This year's Generation adidas Cup featured a Premier Bracket knockout competition for both age groups.
Two pre-tournament favorites, LAFC and Inter Miami CF, battled it out in the Under-17 age group.
Inter Miami won Sunday's final, getting a goal from Mateo Saja in the 18th minute to provide the winner.
It was also a 1-0 result in the U15 final between Chicago Fire and Sporting KC. Darris Hyte scored the game's only goal in the 37th minute.
